Got a letter from an island Sender unknown I started getting kinda frightened Never been this far from home Except a holiday in Belgium I’ve only spent a week in Rome (alone) I’ve just got a question I just wanna know Have you seen this girl? She’s been missing for many months Tell me have you seen this girl? Her name is Rowan (her name is Rowan) Please will you let me know I’m Sergeant Howie number seven three Staying just down the road In a 2 star B and B Went there in search of a child You know that he knows there's a girl running wild Interviewed the mother then he chatted to the sister When he found out that they didn’t have a Minister Things went from bad (from bad) to very very sinister (He’ll never find her) I got a letter from an island Sender unknown But in the area where I live People simply use the phone (people simply use the phone) They claim it’s faster and it’s cheaper, Several studies have shown I’ve just got a question I just wanna know Have you seen this girl? She’s been missing for many months Tell me have you seen this girl? Her name is Rowan (her name is Rowan) In a sea plane I flew Came from a land not far away Need a refreshing brew (Hope you have a pleasant stay) Went there in search of a child You know that he's got a report to be filed Interviewed the mother then he chatted to the sister When he found out that they didn’t have a Minister Things went from bad (from bad) to very very sinister (He’ll never find her) Went there in search of a child You know that he checked that the climate was mild Interviewed the mother then he chatted to the sister But when he found out that they didn’t have a Minister Things went from bad (from bad) to very very sinister (And then they got worse)

I start the day with the search for a young girl Where is she now? I ain't got no clues to help me on my quest Don't forget to go to church every Sunday Papa says My mother says that I'm the best cop in the west You say you're searching all alone for a girl You’ll never never find her We're not gonna lend you a hand, you're on your own Look for the girl yourself I'll have to look for the girl myself After lunch I take a stroll to the school yard Just passing through There were 18 kids, but Rowan is nowhere near Ask the teacher can she help with my homework I want to know How it is that a girl can just disappear Well you should all stop mucking about Just take those bloody masks off We're not gonna lend you a hand, you're on your own Look for the girl yourself I’ll have to look for the girl myself And it won’t be that easy Around this island I'll walk And I know it sounds cheesy But I do more than talk the talk I don’t have time for conversation I've gotta give Summerisle a ring Rejected by a tiny Pagan nation And as I go on my way I sing LALALA I'll have to look for the girl myself You’ll have to look for the girl yourself I'm at the end of my tether It's time I got some results Sick of dealing with the village people Sick of cleaning up after these cults LALALA LALALA

I step inside at a quarter to 8 When you're a puritan that's pretty damn late I've travelled many miles just to get to this place Cos a girls gone missing without any trace A silence fell as the locals saw The sight of someone who respected the law I step up to the bar, you know why I’m here Let me spell it out to make it clear I'm looking for a missing girl I know it isn’t gonna change the world Can you give me a clue, can you help me out Somebody here knows what it’s all about Stop this music I can't hear myself think Come now Sergeant, can I get you a drink Turns out Willow’s slept with half of the town As a man of the church I’d have to turn her down So you’re the owner of this intimate inn Oh yes indeed, were you looking for him? My name’s McGregor and my daughter’s here too What is it sir that we can do for you? I'm looking for a missing girl I know it isn’t gonna change the world Can you give me a clue, can you help me out Somebody here knows what it’s all about I'm looking for a missing girl I know it isn’t gonna change the world Can you give me a clue, can you help me out Somebody here knows what it’s all about I'm looking for a missing girl I know it isn’t gonna change the world Can you give me a clue, can you help me out Somebody here knows what it’s all about

Downstairs in the inn is Sergeant Neil Peaches rounding off a perfect meal Pie and chips and beans all from a can Simple food that suits a simple man As he climbs the winding wooden staircase He stoops to tie his black and polished boot’s lace Thinks upon the friends that he’s just made Had a round of drinks and guess who paid A pint of bitter, pack of fags An evening in with all the lads Sweet dreams my pretty Sergeant Close your eyes and drift away Dream of catching kids, dream of fields and cattle grids Indeed of everything you saw, today Howie shuts the door and draws the curtain To make for sure, to make for certain That there’s no ghost or body swapper Waiting to grab this Christian copper He leaves the light on all night long And sings himself the Maypole song Sweet dreams my pretty Sergeant Close your eyes and drift away Dream of catching kids, dream of fields and cattle grids Indeed of everything you saw, today As he lays his head down on the pillow Outside in the hall he can hear Willow Ah footsteps in the night, he’s not mistaken Lying in the bed, how he’s shakin’ Sweet dreams my pretty Sergeant Close your eyes and drift away Dream of catching kids, dream of fields and cattle grids Indeed of everything you saw, today Sweet dreams my pretty Sergeant Close your eyes and drift away Dream of catching kids, dream of fields and cattle grids Indeed of everything you saw, everything you saw, today

Where is Rowan I just Want to know and tell me Is she near won’t you Let me see her Is she the sacrifice I need to save her life Why can't you end this strife Summerisle won't you think twice Where is Rowan I just Want to know and tell me Is she near won’t you Let me see her Is she the sacrifice I need to save her life Why can't you end this strife Summerisle won't you think twice I need to know if she's alright Or if she's coming back tonight To the post office it's her home On the high street Where's that girl who is missing? I know that she's not dead Where's that girl who is missing? Which girl is that, they said Where is Rowan I just want to know and tell me Is she near won’t you Let me see her Is she the sacrifice I need to save her life Why can't you end this strife Summerisle won't you think twice I will not rest until I know Until it's time for me to go West Highland police I will not let you down Where's that girl who is missing? I know that she's not dead Where's that girl who is missing? Which girl is that, they said Is she inside the castle Or is she in a cave Is she hiding on the highest hill Or buried in her grave Rest assured I'll track her down I've done this many a time I'll walk on water, I'll heal the sick I'll solve this blasted crime Before the week is out I'll find her There's no doubt believe me Round about now she will reappear I'll tell her there's no fear That I was always near She'll see that Howie's here No sacrifice this year Well let me see her then! Show yoursel'!

Well I cruise up to the castle in my horse drawn cart Thought that we could have a cup of tea then make a start I explore the trappings of your bodacious abode And check out all the naked pagans ‘cross the road I walk up to my salon with some trepidation Here comes a copper from a Christian nation I trust that it refreshes you but no such luck Well I'm a JP jigger I don't give a fuck You claim religious is how the mainland sees us But half the chickas here ain’t even heard of Jesus I ain’t no damn acne scarred artisan I’m a hip young virgin and a police man You're a white boy from the main-land police force Trying to intrude upon our island’s discourse If y’all suspect murder y’all must go ahead But don't come crying to your Lord when y’all end up dead They stood inside the hall, the cop and the Lord One was frustrated, the other bored He'd learnt about the castle by reading a book Just popped inside so he could take a look Fake religion fake biology well can’t you see That this island used to have a famous monastery But all I've seen here are buildings made of wicker Bitches dancing naked drinking bottles of liquor I’m the Lord of this island, I'm the supreme king I see you checking out my crib, I see you checking out my bling My ancestors have been here since '63 When my ol' grandaddy grew an apple tree I’d like to go and exhume with your permission The body of the girl whatever it's condition I don't give a damn about your grandad's weed The Lord is my shepherd and the law's my creed Well I’ve told you ‘bout my past; I’m a heathen I’m not deceivin’, what I believe in, may differ from you muthas But I’ve made my decision and I’ve decided your mission Can go ahead but instead I’ll tell you now she’s already dead Our Rowan was a victim of the island's flaw Sentenced to death because our crops were poor You’ll find her in the graveyard, plot number 3 Under the leaves of a rowan tree I got 14 trowels 2 spades and a digger I bought them last week to make the wicker man bigger And I thought that I had already said I don't give a shit if you go ahead So I go down to dig up the child in the cemetery Growing on the grave is a flesh covered rowan tree I say to myself there's no place she can hide But when I take off the lid there's just a hare inside

Parade 03:18
I head up to the castle after looking in the grave Well I’m feeling pretty angry, I’m feeling pretty brave I storm on through the door and ask what’s going on But Summerisle won’t answer he’s just singing his song I’m going on a parade today As the light starts to fade away I think the Pagans are onto me I need to try and set Rowan free I’m reading in a book about a May Day celebration Decide to take it home to help with my investigation Turns out that they are gonna have a really big parade Put on my jester outfit and join in with the charade I’m going on a parade today As the light starts to fade away I think the Pagans are onto me I need to try and set Rowan free As I step into the circle of stone I start to hope that my covers not blown Chop is what the swordsmen all said I better play it cool so I don’t lose my head I walk up the hill to the mouth of a cavern I’d rather be here than in the Green Man tavern I only wanna find the girl that I’m after Wait a minute can you hear children’s laughter? I’m going on a parade today As the light starts to fade away I think the Pagans are onto me I need to try and set Rowan free I’m going on a parade today As the light starts to fade away I think the Pagans are onto me I need to try and set Rowan free

Well I joined the procession Took part in the parade Had to knock out McGregor But that’s the price he paid Well you called me a joker Had me dressed like a clown Thought I knew what was up But now I’m going down I saw what I needed I thought I was right My search for this girl Is gonna end tonight I’ve chased you all over I’ve been high and low At last I can see That it was all for show A letter from an island led me to you When I got to that cave it was too good to be true Rowan you led me into a trap And now there’s no going back I think I’m starting to guess I confess You stepped out the shadows You came out the dark I thought that this mission Would be a walk in the park I can’t help but notice There’s something amiss I can’t understand Why you’d behave like this A letter from an island led me to you When I got to that cave it was too good to be true Rowan you led me into a trap And as a matter of fact I’m feeling the stress I confess Well I took a step back I let out a scream I said to myself Its gotta be a dream I see you standing there laughing Not believing my eyes You never really were missing And then to my surprise You say we are pawns Just part of a game It’s Summerisle’s checkmate And Rowan’s to blame Looked me in the eye Took me by the hand Led me to the sunset And the Wicker Man You led me into a trap How do you feel about that I can’t get out this mess I confess Oh Rowan you led me into a trap And now there’s no going back Oh Rowan

May Day 03:29
As I'm dragged out to the sunset I let out a final yell Why can't you just let me go I promise I'll never tell Nothing left, out of time Tried to save the girl! Think of what you're doing Have mercy on my soul I'll fight for my right to worship Fight for my right to pray My belief in God the King Ended on May Day Yah Oh it was May Day Save yourself, they told me Before it hits the fan Now that it has surely hit A sorry man I am Dragged up to the Wicker Man Before a screaming crew Summerisle, you got me But next year they'll get you Nothing left, out of time Tried to save the girl! Think of what you're doing Have mercy on my soul I'll fight for my right to worship Fight for my right to pray My belief in God the King Ended on May Day Yah I've paid my bill at the Green Man inn And I haven’t left a tip Jumped inside my plane it didn't start Don't know where the fuel gauge is How'd you construct that Wicker Man Out of nought but sticks and twigs Standing on the hill it's quite a feat Must have taken you ages Nothing left, out of time Tried to save the girl! Think of what you're doing Have mercy on my soul I'll fight for my right to worship Fight for my right to pray My belief in God the King Ended on May Day Yah And it was May Day Nothing left, out of time Tried to save the girl! Think of what you're doing Have mercy on my soul I'll fight for my right to worship Fight for my right to pray My belief in God the King Ended on May Day And it was May Day Nothing left, out of time Tried to save the girl! Think of what you're doing Have mercy on my soul I'll fight for my right to worship Fight for my right to pray My belief in God the King Ended on May Day Yah

So at the end of the story You wonder where is the glory He knew his plan was ambitious And that his murder was vicious Ain’t no harvest coming in Next year the people growin’ thin And then they’ll turn on their Lord The man that they once adored In Summerisle The wicker man is burning Howie did not know any better until he ended up stuck, just his luck A new day is dawning Lord Summerisle’s yawning He’s thinking of tomorrow There ain’t no room for sorrow And there’s still a sea plane there But the villagers don’t care As long as they’ve got their fruit Howie will be getting the boot In Summerisle The wicker man is burning I wonder if it’s something that they do each year He was looking for a missing girl, but instead he found his destiny Death by a wicker man Who’s gonna gain from this sacrifice Now Howie’s gone and it’s too late he was sentenced to a martyr’s fate Death by a wicker man They all conspired to have Howie fired He was looking for a missing girl, but instead he found his destiny Death by a wicker man Who’s gonna gain from this sacrifice Howie’s gone and it’s too late he was sentenced to a martyr’s fate Death by a wicker man They all conspired to have Howie fired Howie’s gone and it’s too late he was sentenced to a martyr’s fate Death by a wicker man They all conspired to have Howie fired

No Apples 03:08
No apples No apples No apples No apples There’ll be no apples, no apples on Summersisle There’ll be no apples, no apples on Summersisle There’ll be no apples, no apples on Summersisle There’ll be no apples, no apples on Summersisle The Green Man’s the place to stay But don’t book in here on May Day The tourist board took their stars away ‘Give us a reason’ I heard them say No apples, no apples on Summersisle There’ll be no apples, no apples on Summersisle There’ll be no apples, no apples on Summersisle There’ll be no apples, no apples on Summersisle He came to the island a virgin A Christian, born and bred He came to the island living He left the island dead Burnt inside a wicker man That was his destiny No one there to save him No one to set him free There’ll be no apples, no apples on Summersisle There’ll be no apples, no apples on Summersisle There’ll be no apples, no apples on Summersisle There’ll be no apples, no apples on Summersisle No apples No apples No apples Apples, apples, apples, apples

about

Consisting primarily of two musicians - Ed "Croon" Cox and Jamie "Jammy" Perriam - a drum machine, viz "James" Bodhran Adam completes our trio.

Ed, 23, plays keys and sings. Jamie, 22, plays guitar and sings. James, 23, playing drums and definitely, please God no, not singing, was once sworn by reliable witnesses to have lost a few hands at the Royal Baccarat Scandal.

The outfit came into its own in mid-2010; a growing sense of resentment directed towards world politics and blazer-wearing children combined with a love of, and fascination with, the cult 1973 film 'The Wicker Man' would eventually result in 'Letter From An Island', an 11-track concept album inspired by the film's (ultimately) disastrous plot. Spanning genres; each track will invite you to join in our narration of a scene in the film, taking you on a musical journey to find out the outcome of the missing girl, and the West Highland Constabulary's Sergeant Neil Howie.

Gone were the old days of the band when writing songs with titles such as "Wig-Out, pt. 4", "Untitled" and "Instrumental Extravaganza" provided lyrical satisfaction to few. In their stead stood such staunch standouts as "Look For The Girl Myself" and "No Apples". And this, dear reader, is approximately where you find CATC today. Three lads from Scotland with the talent of several thousand denarii and more ambition than you can shake a stick at are making lubberly music about policemen trying to find little girls - and that cannot be a bad thing.

We challenge you to disprove that last statement. Take a listen.
